At Village Montessori, we are proud to provide a high quality, authentic Montessori education. It is our intent to build a solid foundation on which each child is propelled into a bright future. By implementing the basic components of life, we are confident that each of our students will leave feeling independent, successful and hopeful in areas of challenge.

Peace education is a fundamental tenet of Montessori education and a program of which we have meticulously developed. By implementing principles of respect - respect for self, respect for others and respect for the environment - our students begin to build a peaceful demeanor. We implement these practices by modeling them ourselves and by holding our students to similar standards.
In addition to weaving peace education into our curriculum, we offer three after school enrichment classes whoes indirect aim is to further instill peacefulness within our students. Each child is invited to join one or all of our after-school enrichment classes (space is limited and fees apply). We currently offer a group art class, advanced sewing and yoga.
At Village Montessori, unless there is severe weather, we go outside every single day. Numerous studies have shown that children who spend extended periods of time outdoors everyday function better both academically and emotionally. Our hope is to offer each of our students as much outdoor play as possible.
There is a natural playground behind the school house where children are allowed the freedom to fine tune their motor development and experiment with social nuances by working together. Our students love using the slackline, the large tire, the rope swing and several balance beams, as well as building structures with our Builder Boards. In addition, our sandbox creates a full-on sensory experience by including a watertrough, an excavator, a funnel shelf and numerous digging tools. It isn't uncommon to hear a child shout "let's build a dam!"
Considering the age of children we serve, consistency is key in continuing to help them develop at a steady pace. Therefore, we offer our students either four or five weeks of summer school between the months of June and July.
Our summer school program mirrors that of the regular school year, with the exeption that there are only half as many students. This is a wonderful opportunity for new students to settle in and connect with their classmates, teachers and school environment on a more intimate level. Additionally, children who attend summer school are invited to help us make handmade soup, lemonade, granola and tie dyed apparel to sell at our Village Summer Market.
This year the Village Summer Market will take place on July 14, from 4-7pm. We will be selling produce from our garden, eggs from our hens and handmade items from our students.
